– So cigarette smoke is one
of the major risk factors
that is something that everyone can do
to prevent further progression
of coronary heart disease.
What we’ve noticed is
that people are living
so-called healthy lifestyles.
They exercise, they’re active,
they’re in shape, they
do not have diabetes,
they do not have high blood pressure,
they do not have cholesterol,
but because of the stress of the job,
and they socially go out for
a drink, they decide to smoke.
This is a major risk factor.
Patients are presenting in their 30s, 40s,
up to their 90s, with
this major risk factor.
If you think you can get away with
one or two cigarettes a
weekend, with a drink,
you are putting yourself at
risk for coronary heart disease,
and a major heart attack.
