quit anything gradually,
whether it’s chocolate or cigarettes.
Generally, the cold
turkey approach is best.
It can be scary to do it that way.
It can be a little painful
at your first week,
but it’s the one that’s been proven
to be the most effective for
long-term smoking cessation.
When it comes to stopping smoking,
most of my patients,
once they’ve gathered their courage
and created their plan to stop,
they are ready to do it immediately,
and so they choose to just stop smoking.
I have had a couple patients
work on the slow-but-steady program,
and I’ve seen it work,
but I’ve seen the bigger success
with the just-stop-right-now approach.
