Hypnosis Demonstration With Igor Ledochowski: Conversational Revivification

Okay, before the break we went through a revivification
process.
Was it relatively easy?
Not the most conversational thing in the world
was it?
Can I have a volunteer please?
Come on up
Give him a round of applause
I’ll try not to think too much.
Not thinking is a good thing overall, it’s
under estimated.
So, I presume John that you’re a normal
human being and you do from time to time do
things to relax, chill out and have fun.
Yeah.
I have a wide range of hobbies and activities.
If you were to narrow that wide range down
to things that are particularly pleasant,
what kinds of things do you enjoy?
Scuba Diving.
You enjoy scuba diving?
What about scuba diving do you enjoy?
The moonlight and being in zero gravity.
When you go scuba diving, because I haven’t
actually been, I’ve been snorkeling.
So you say when you’re scuba diving…
One of the key aspects of it that I like is
being weightless.
Being weightless, being weightless.
You said something charming, that it’s a
womb=like sensation, but it’s the weightlessness
that you enjoy?
That’s one of the aspects.
What is the other one?
Seeing wrecked battleships.
Give me an example of one.
The best dive I ever did was the Thistledown,
which went down during the Second World War.
It was only recently rediscovered and it was
a supply ship.
Walk me through it.
So there’s a ship there, but you haven’t
seen it because you’re above water or something.
So how does it work, what happens?
You’ll roll off the boat, drop down into
the water.
Is that the bit where you have that weightless
feeling, as soon as you roll off the boat?
Pretty much yeah, as soon as you hit the water.
You get down to the depth that you want to
be at and then you stabilize your buoyancy.
Let me understand this a second, because I’ve
never been scuba diving.
So you’re on the boat and you roll off the
boat.
Yeah, and then you’re into the blue.
And then you’re into the blue.
You’re into the blue.
That sounds like something really charming,
being into the blue.
And at some point you descend and you stabilize
buoyancy, I’m not sure what that means,
but more importantly it sounds like that’s
the point at which you become weightless.
That’s right.
You want to be neutrally buoyant.
Neutrally buoyant.
That’s when you get weightless.
That’s weightless
Is that when you feel like you’re in this
womb-like thing?
That’s right.
So you roll off the boat, you’re into the
big blue…
Yeah.
… then suddenly you’re weightless.
You’re in this womb-like thing and that’s
when you go exploring is it?
Yeah.
Wow, I’m trying to stay conscious here.
So notice the conflict here, can you see that
happening?
Every time I’m describing it I get more
hypnotic, he’s trying to stay conversational
but…
But I’d like to go into that.
Right.
This is the important thing.
Inside of a regular conversation you don’t
have…
I can’t just say not go into a trance and
do that because specifically it’ll break
the social contract and he’ll know something’s
going on.
So if I’m going to semi-covert I can happily
switch tracks.
There’s two variations of this.
I’ll give you a simple way to actually allow
him to do that without actually seeming to
do anything overtly hypnotic, would you like
to see that?
It’s very easy.
So, you’re rolling off the boat, you’re
into the big blue, you have that neutral buoyancy
like in the womb.
I’d like you to just close your eyes for
a moment if you could.
I know it’s unusual but really think about
that.
The big blue
The weightless, womb-like thing
The exploration
Then the battleship somewhere over there
That’s going to go into regular hypnosis,
I can do something simple as, I’d like you
to really enjoy that battleship whilst I’ll
talk to the other you.
Do you get how we get into more word association?
It’s not very covert at this point is it?
The idea of him closing his eyes and thinking
about that does something different.
Just really think about that, it’s a really
pleasant experience.
When you’ve really been in touch with that
for a while, come on back so we can talk about
that.
That was something wasn’t it?
It really was something wasn’t it?
Do you see he’s still in there, in that
glow of trance?
Notice how, if I didn’t put that overtly,
I want to talk to you elsewhere and so on
thing in, this could be part of a normal conversation,
just a very interesting one.
I’ve done this in a coaching context and
it works very nicely there.
Even over the phone, just close your eyes
for a minute and really think about what you
said.
But then, who’s to say that you can’t
use this without him actually going into a
full blown trance?
The interesting thing I find, John, in terms
of the big blue is a little bit like, have
you heard of this thing called Conversational
Hypnosis?
It’s crossed my way.
I don’t know if you realize this, but every
time you have a chance to talk with someone,
it’s almost like when you make eye contact
with them for long enough, a sense of the
big blue, that same sense of weightlessness
and being in the womb that’s part of what
that interaction starts feeling like.
Do you know what I mean?
Mm…hmm.
Just imagine for a moment that you’re talking
to someone who you need to influence.
You want to be a force for good in their lives
and everything else you’ve done hasn’t
worked for whatever reason and all you have
to do is just stop and recall that big blue
long enough for both of you to be weightless
in terms of this heavy issue that I have.
So they’re safe you know, like that womb-like
feeling and suddenly all the constraints you
had before start dissolving.
Because all it is, is you, another human being,
being human beings.
You get to pass all the bullshit, all the
stuff that normally keeps people stuck somewhere
that they don’t want to be and to the extent
that you can help them find their own big
blue, their own weightlessness.
Wouldn’t you be a great force for good in
their life?
Wouldn’t’ that be something?
Oh my gosh yes.
Do I sense any hesitation in the background
there or is it just a question of this being
something you like the idea of?
I’m good with that.
So for $599 you could sign up for the program.
I think I already did.
I bought the ticket and I’m taking the ride.
Good.
It’s a big blue ride.
Yeah, it’s got God beams coming out through
the water.
Love it.
Notice how this is a very, almost gentle conversation.
If you hadn’t had any idea of hypnosis or
conversational hypnosis or anything like that,
would this have sounded in any way unusual?
It would just sound like a conversation between
friends wouldn’t it?
That’s the point, if you try and get them
to this it’s no longer conversational hypnosis.
Yes, there are some cheats like to close your
eyes and think about it, but notice you’re
still sitting there.
You’re still in the big blue aren’t you?
Pretty much.
Notice how, once you got there you can reach
about anything in an open and honest way and
be a real force for good.
You can do almost anything and I’ll give
you an example.
You won’t have to do this it’s just an
example.
Are there any situations in your life that
you would want to be a 8:53 of yourself because
you get stuck somehow?
Don’t choose anything big.
You know, I’ve been doing this a while with
you now.
I’ve kind of addressed a lot of the things
like smoking, and stuff like that.
I’m pretty unstressed as an individual.
Nothing really…
9:18… but nothing really comes to mind.
In which case I won’t trim it up.
Ask me again.
I’ll give you a problem.
There’s actually a better version of this
you haven’t even considered yet, do you
realize that?
Because, there’s a bunch of things in your
life that I bet you wish you could be much
better at.
Oh yeah.
Like what?
Well, I’d like to be a better hypnotist.
So when you think about how good a hypnotist
you think you are already at this point…
how’s that?
Sorry.
What is that like being that hypnotist you
think you are?
I’m not sure I understand the question properly.
Well, you clearly have an idea of what being
a better hypnotist means right?
Right.
What is that that you’re not already?
Earning.
Oh, the money.
It’s about income is it?
I haven’t made the switch.
Basically, I’ll get up in the morning, I’ll
do some online work and I make a living but
when I get back from Thailand next week, I’m
going to apply all the techniques from the
course which I invested in, but that’s going
to mean clearing my desk of everything else
and not just going back into the old pattern.
Think about this for a moment.
You’ve come back from Thailand, you’ve
done your dive trip and had a great time and
so on and you also have come back from this
whole big experience.
And you’ve had some things already sorted
out, but whatever it is you know you’ll
have the weightlessness.
You may even have your time in the sunshine
with the God beams that come down.
It’s a pleasant experience to take back
with you.
So when you think about being at home or in
your office, wherever you do work and there’s
all the old ways of doing things, but then
there’s this idea of your own business matter,
running your own business in hypnotherapy,
making some money doing those things and however
you feel about that right now, just consider
that by the time you’ve done certain things
you’ll have that same kind of big blue experience,
that weightlessness as a hypnotherapist that
you are having as a diver as well.
Yeah.
Unconscious competence.
Right, is that something you would like?
Yes, very much so.
When you’re at home and you’re thinking
about it, and don’t think about it right
now, all the things you would need to do to
even just begin in your business, the business
side of things.
This is going to sound a little strange, but
just think of it this way.
Imagine that you have these God beams coming
down on you, just as you started doing things,
little things like picking up the phone to
talk to someone about doing a lecture demo
for example.
Are you getting the idea of what I mean?
So, when you think of it like that what happens?
Pretty weightless at the moment.
So I want you to do me a favor at the moment,
because this is important to you right to
start your own hypnotherapy business?
I’d like you to just close your eyes for
a moment and I know you can recall the big
blue easily and the weightlessness of that
and the God beams and really making it a mystical
experience.
What I’m curious about is, all the little
tasks you will have to engage in to just start
a hypnotherapy business.
I know the emotions that you have right now,
I wonder if they’ll attach to those automatically?
Think about that for a bit.
Because when you think about it, it’s only
natural to attach all those wonderful feelings
to the work of the beginning hypnotherapy
because this is something you really want
to do isn’t it?
So why wouldn’t you feel the same kind of
weightlessness, the same kind of protection
or safety of being in a womb, that same splendor
of the God beams?
And even have a sense that what you’re doing
is as important as the mystery of the big
blue.
Do you know what I mean?
So why on earth wouldn’t you feel this way,
when you’re beginning in your business?
Surely that’s the most natural way of starting,
because then you can look forward to the future
and think about all the people you’ve helped,
all the skills you’ve built and the income
you’ve generated whilst doing that.
Doesn’t that make the feelings you had even
more profound?
Take your time to really consider that now.
There are important things going on.
Above all else somehow you learned to really
love scuba diving.
You learned there are moments in it like the
big blue, the weightlessness and the God beams
and the shipwrecks that you can explore.
This is very rewarding to you, very rewarding
for you and I wonder what the equivalent will
be in your business that’ll be equally more
rewarding for you than the big blue, the weightlessness,
the God beams and exploration you make.
The thing is, you and I don’t know.
How can we know until you start doing it to
find out?
It seems he’s doing quite a bit of thinking
there.
It’s important to do that.
I’ll happily wait here patiently.
When you finish your thinking, just go ahead
and open your eyes and talk to me again.
It seems like you did some thinking there.
I was doing some thinking and some linking.
Thinking and linking.
Linking up some ideas.
Wow.
That’s good.
Don’t mind me.
We went a little off script there and technically
there’s a little bit of therapy I guess
you could call it.
Both are important, notice how very quickly
by revivifying something pleasant, the scuba
diving, he was there in that glow anyway and
then attaching that to something else is very
easy.
In this case it’s starting a business, how
do you feel about that?
It’s something I’ve done before so I know
I can do it.
Yeah, it’s the idea of being unconsciously
competent, and I’m attaching that idea of
unconscious competency in my diving which
took a while.
Hypnosis is something you are and a diver
is now something I am.
I went through the process of learning it
and then I became it.
Right.
And you had to go through some effort for
that right?
Yeah.
It wasn’t arduous, it was some pressure
but it was a process.
It was work.
Yeah.
I guess that’s what you’re saying about
your business, you have to put some work in.
Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying about
my business.
It ought to be
an interesting journey it sounds like.
Yeah.
All right, give him a nice round of applause.
Thank you so much.
