FDA wants to stop e-cigarette sales to minors, local shops doing their part

dangerous epidemic that’s how the FDA is referring to e-cigarette use among minors and now they’re cracking down on illegal sales new science Jessica Bronto in studio watching out for you tonight how local vape shots doing their part Jessica to stop this from happening well the vape shop I visited takes its mission of selling responsibly very seriously the owner told me most shops do and the teen I spoke to says vaping isn’t as dangerous as other drugs out there and it’s actually changed her life for the better the FDA calling out ecig retailers for illegally selling to minors and in their view hooking them on the product I’m deeply disturbed by what in what I see as an epidemic of nicotine use among teenagers but shops like American vaping ecig say they’re not part of the problem they’re against selling to minors to CID a real quick please we’re all checking IDs it hurts our industry as a whole so we do everything we can to try and not let that happen a new FDA campaign vowing to look at what makes these products marketable to teens even considering removing flavors they see them as a major youth appeal but shop owner Monica Clayton disagrees with the approach she thinks the reduced stigma around ecigs could be creating a distorted view I don’t think that the flavors is what’s drawing them in I think they’re just a little more forward about it and admitting to it so maybe they’re seeing it more as an epidemic 18 year olds Mackenzie aren’t is just over that legal threshold she says e steaks have helped her cope with emotional struggles it makes me feel good it doesn’t want me to do anything dangerous it’s saying hey I’m here it’s a crutch she credits ecigs with giving her peace of mind and saves the label of dangerous for hard drugs I know people that do those and his heart almost stopped it has stopped actually from a drug overdose but the FDA is pushing forward in its mission to get ecigs out of the hands of teens you can expect to see the FDA’s new full-scale campaign to roll out sometime next week El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says from July of this year up to today they have not received any reports of e-cigarettes being sold to minors public County Sheriff’s Office still working on getting those stats for us always watching out for you southern Colorado Jessica barreto news 5
