American Heart Association Release E-Cigarette Policy Statement

American Heart Association Release E-Cigarette Policy Statement

– The volunteers and staff of
The American Heart Association
have long been committed
to reducing tobacco use
ever since scientific
studies first demonstrated
a link between smoking and
heart disease and stroke.
In recent decades we’ve
made substantial progress
in tobacco control,
but we still have so much to do.
We’ve just released a policy statement
on electronic cigarettes,
an emerging product in the tobacco market.
As we do with the establishment
of all AHA policy positions
we brought together
leading experts to review
the current science and
data available on this issue
and to make recommendations.
The paper addresses a
wide range of policies
and I encourage you to read
it to learn the details.
We are especially concerned
about the aggressive marketing
of e-cigarettes to
children through the use of
advertising, social
media, candy flavorings,
and celebrity endorsements.
With your help we’ll use
this new policy statement
to make our communities healthier.
Our You’re the Cure
advocates already submitted
nearly 8,000 comments to the
Food and Drug Administration
supporting regulation of e-cigarettes
and other tobacco products.
Thank you for your involvement
and I encourage you to
continue the fight with us.
Please visit You’re the Cure dot org
to share your thoughts
or to get more involved.
Here at The American Heart Association
life is why we do what we do.
We believe everyone has
a right to enjoy a life
that is free of tobacco products.

  • Tobacco control… Aruni Bhatnagar, Ph.D. FAHA. We Health Nazis believe you low brows need us, and must obey us.

  • Is it just me or did it happen also to others? The longer I watched it, the more I got distracted by her mouth, so much so, that in the end, I did not listen anymore, but just watched those lips.
